Featuring:
SAMIR DAOUD, FRANCHISE DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, GSR BRANDS (GOLD STAR CHILI AND TOM + CHEE)
Samir started out on the other side as a franchisee for the brand, and over the last 12 years has worked as an owner-operator and retail manager before transitioning to a role where he manages current and future franchisees.
As retail sales manager, he was able to increase market and product growth through expansion in Gold Star’s retail product line, distributors and outlets. In 2015, he transitioned to franchise development and now focuses on driving results through the company’s strategic growth plans by assisting new and current franchisees establish and achieve their goals.

TONY LAMB, KONA ICE CEO

Introduced by his father to the world of in-home sales in his early teens, Tony developed his skills throughout college. After graduating from the University of Kentucky, he began his career in sales with Rexair Inc. Setting sales records at every level, Tony won numerous awards and became a distributor.

After selling his Rexair businesses in 2003, he began working as a marketing consultant. Yearning to start up his own business again, Tony ended his contracts to pursue that ambition. During his exploration of possible business avenues, his family had an unfavorable experience with the neighborhood ice cream truck. That experience, combined with Tony’s knowledge of mobile advertising (at one time owning a fleet of mobile billboard trucks) started his “what if” thought process...resulting in the Kona Ice truck!

Kona Ice is the largest food truck franchise in the country and is considered one of the fastest growing franchises. In Entrepreneur Magazine’s annual company ranking, Kona Ice ranked 60, ahead of Ben & Jerry’s, McAlister’s Deli and Subway.

Not only are each of his franchisees successful, they are businesses that give back to their communities. As of February 2020, over $82 million has been raised for communities all across the US and Canada.

DAN BUSKEN, BUSKEN BAKERY CEO

Dan Busken is the 4th generation President, CEO and Board Member of Busken Bakery, Inc.  Dan began his career as a Project Manager for Megen Construction Company where he worked on projects such as the Fountain Square Restoration and construction of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.  After a successful 5 years with Megen Construction, Dan joined the family bakery business in 2004 as the Director of Operations and Production.

Dan has served on the national Board of Directors for the Retail Bakers Association, Board Member of the Greater Cincinnati Retail Bakers Association and was named a “Top 40 Under Forty” finalist in 2007 by the Cincinnati Business Courier.  In addition, Dan has served on the Board of Directors for the Nuway Foundation that works to improve the lives of men, women and children in Nigeria.
