DESCRIPTION:UC Clermont Leadership Certificate:  Essential Skills using materials from Development Dimensions International\, Inc. to develop the skills of managers and prospective managers. Essentials of Leadership - In this foundation program\, learners view video of a leader facing common challenges. They are introduced to seven Leadership Imperatives/Skills:  how to coach and develop people\, drive performance\, inspire loyalty and trust\, manage work\, partner within and across teams\, influence others\, and select talent.  Learners explore these key principles: how to maintain or enhance self esteem\, listen and respond\, ask for help and encourage involvement\, share thoughts\, feelings\, and rationale\, provide support without removing responsibility.  Scenarios are used to practice skills in small groups. The program introduces the STAR feedback system:  ST (situation or task) A (action) R (result).  Participants learn how to use this tool to help improve performance and provide feedback to employees.  Finally\, they develop personal plans to apply their new skills in the workplace.
